TRAINING COURSES

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including a heart attack or near drowning, in which a person has stopped breathing.

When the heart stops, lack of oxygenated blood can cause brain damage in only a few short minutes and cause death within 8 to 10 minutes. CPR can keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other organs until more definitive medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. According to the American Heart Association, nearly half a million Americans die from a cardiac arrest every year and more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year.

In the event of a cardiac arrest, an automated external defibrillator (AED) can aid is saving a life. However, only about a quarter of Americans say there is an AED at their workplace.

Effective CPR and AED care can more than double a person’s chance of survival. A person faced with an emergency such as a heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, or choking may be saved if someone at the scene have had the lifesaving skills and techniques that can be acquired through CPR training.

Heart CPR offers affordable CPR and AED certification classes taught by expert instructors. CPR and AED certification options include Instructor Led (classroom only training), Blended Learning (online + in-person skill training) and Online only CPR courses.

Take a class

Many people do not have the knowledge to aid others when it comes to First Aid and CPR emergencies, and often don’t know the proper way to help themselves.

Everyone can learn how to provide First Aid, CPR and AED care. However, many people feel helpless to act during an emergency because they either do not know how to administer care or their certification has lapsed. The life you save could be someone you love because more than 80 percent of cardiac arrests occur at home.

First Aid and CPR in the Workplace: According to a report from OSHA, First Aid emergencies often happen at work and nearly 10,000 cardiac arrest situations occur in the workplace each year, yet less than half of U.S. employees have been trained in First Aid, CPR and AED.  Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees and this includes proper training in First Aid, CPR and AED.

Heart CPR offers affordable First Aid, CPR and AED certification classes for individuals and groups throughout Southern California. We offer certification courses by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Safety.

Class delivery options include Instructor Led (classroom only training), Blended Learning (online + in-person skill training) and Online only courses.

BLS refers to Basic Life Support which is a type of care that first-responders, healthcare providers and public safety professionals provide to anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. It requires knowledge and skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using automated external defibrillators (AED) and relieving airway obstructions in patients of every age.

Heart CPR teaches American Heart Association BLS Provider and BLS Renewal certification classes.

During the BLS course, healthcare professionals learn how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

BLS Providers learn to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Do you need BLS or CPR?
The difference between BLS and CPR is that the BLS class is an advanced CPR/AED course used by healthcare professionals. If you are not a medical/healthcare professional, the best class for you would be a standard CPR/AED class or CPR/AED with First Aid class.

Course Decription:

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) is an advanced course that builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR, and high-performance team dynamics.

During the ACLS class, healthcare professionals learn:

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Certification:

Participants who successfully complete the ACLS course, receive a American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard valid for 2 years.

BLS, ACLS, PALS and CPR Classes Near San Bernardino

Serving San Bernardino and Nearby Communities

Heart CPR serves students from San Bernardino, Highland, Rialto, Colton, Loma Linda, Redlands, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Muscoy, Bloomington, and nearby Inland Empire communities. This area is home to healthcare campuses, hospitals, clinics, schools, dental offices, ambulance services, and care facilities, which makes convenient certification a major need for local students and professionals.

A Practical Format for People With Full Schedules

Many students come to Heart CPR because they need certification quickly and cannot spend all day in class. With blended learning options, students complete the online portion before the skills session, then come in for hands-on practice, instructor review, and testing. The in-person portion is focused and efficient while still giving students the practice needed to complete the course correctly.

Certifications for Clinical and Workplace Requirements

BLS, ACLS, and PALS are often required for healthcare roles, school programs, and clinical rotations. CPR/AED and First Aid/CPR/AED are commonly used for workplace safety, childcare, coaching, fitness, teaching, and general employee training. Heart CPR helps students choose the right course path without overcomplicating the process.

Certification Options

BLS for Healthcare Providers

BLS is the provider-level CPR/AED course required by many healthcare employers and training programs. Students practice adult, child, and infant CPR, AED use, ventilation support, choking response, and coordinated team response. BLS is commonly taken by nursing students, medical assistants, EMTs, dental staff, caregivers, physical therapy students, and other providers who may need to respond in a clinical or prehospital setting.

ACLS for Adult Emergency Care

ACLS is for healthcare professionals who respond to adult cardiac, respiratory, and peri-arrest emergencies. The course builds from BLS and includes rhythm recognition, advanced airway concepts, medication topics, stroke, acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrest care, and team communication during emergency scenarios. Provider and Renewal options are available based on student needs and current class availability.

PALS for Pediatric Emergencies

PALS focuses on serious emergencies involving infants and children. Students review pediatric assessment, respiratory distress and failure, shock, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, and organized team response. This course is commonly required for emergency care, pediatric units, urgent care, EMS, critical care, and specialty settings where providers may need to respond to pediatric patients.

CPR/AED and First Aid Classes

Heart CPR also offers CPR/AED and First Aid/CPR/AED training for people outside healthcare. These classes are a good fit for school employees, childcare workers, coaches, personal trainers, construction crews, office teams, security staff, and community members. Students may learn CPR, AED use, choking response, bleeding control, sudden illness care, injury response, and basic first aid.

Renewal and Combination Options

Students who already hold a current or recently expiring card may be able to register for renewal options. Some students also need multiple certifications for onboarding, school deadlines, hospital requirements, or annual compliance. Depending on schedule availability, combination options such as BLS with ACLS or BLS with PALS may help reduce the number of separate class dates needed.

Group CPR, BLS, ACLS and PALS Training in San Bernardino

Heart CPR provides onsite CPR, First Aid, BLS, ACLS, and PALS training for employers, schools, healthcare offices, dental practices, care facilities, clinics, and local organizations in the San Bernardino area. Private Certification Classes for Teams

Private group classes are available for organizations that want a dedicated training session. This option can work well for medical practices, dental teams, school staff, childcare programs, senior care teams, outpatient offices, fitness centers, and companies with multiple employees due for certification. Private classes can support onboarding, inspections, annual renewals, accreditation preparation, and internal safety standards.

FAQs About CPR and Healthcare Certification in San Bernardino

What Class Should I Take for a Healthcare Job?

Most healthcare roles require BLS at a minimum, but some positions also require ACLS or PALS. BLS is the standard provider-level CPR course. ACLS is used for adult advanced cardiovascular emergencies. PALS is used for pediatric emergency response. Always check the exact course name listed by your employer, school, or licensing board before registering.

Is BLS Only for Nurses?

No. BLS is common for nurses and nursing students, but it is also used by EMTs, paramedics, medical assistants, dental professionals, respiratory therapists, physical therapy students, caregivers, and many other healthcare workers. The course is designed for people who may respond to breathing emergencies, cardiac arrest, or airway obstruction in a professional setting.

When Is ACLS Required?

ACLS is often required for providers who work in emergency departments, ICUs, telemetry units, procedure areas, EMS, respiratory care, and other settings where adult cardiac or respiratory emergencies may occur. The course includes advanced airway concepts, rhythm interpretation, medication topics, stroke and ACS care, and resuscitation team response.

Who Should Take PALS?

PALS is intended for healthcare providers who may care for infants or children during serious emergencies. It is commonly taken by pediatric nurses, emergency department staff, paramedics, respiratory therapists, urgent care clinicians, ICU providers, and specialty care teams. The course focuses on pediatric assessment, shock, respiratory emergencies, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.

Can I Renew My Certification Instead of Taking a Provider Course?

Yes, renewal options may be available for students with a current or recently expiring BLS, ACLS, or PALS card. Renewal classes review the required material, refresh hands-on skills, and complete the testing needed for a new certification period. Students should confirm whether their employer or school requires a renewal class or full provider course.

How Much Time Is Spent In Person?

Many Heart CPR classes use blended learning, so students complete the online portion before arriving for the skills session. For many students, the in-person portion takes about one hour. The facility visit is used for hands-on review, skills practice, and testing. After successful completion, students can leave with certification in hand.

Can I Receive My Certification on the Same Day?

Yes. Same-day certification is available for many Heart CPR classes once all course requirements are successfully completed. Students must finish any required online coursework, attend the hands-on session, and pass the required skills and testing components. This makes the process easier for students with school, work, or renewal deadlines.

Are CPR/AED and First Aid Classes Available Too?

Yes. In addition to BLS, ACLS, and PALS, Heart CPR offers CPR/AED and First Aid/CPR/AED classes for non-healthcare students and workplace teams. These classes are often used for job requirements, childcare, coaching, teaching, construction, office safety, fitness, and general emergency preparedness.

Can Heart CPR Train a Group at Our Location?

Yes. Heart CPR offers onsite group training for businesses, healthcare offices, clinics, dental practices, schools, childcare centers, care facilities, fitness businesses, and local organizations. Our instructors bring the needed equipment and teach at your location when scheduling allows, which can make certification easier for larger teams.

What Areas Around San Bernardino Do You Serve?

Heart CPR serves students from San Bernardino, Highland, Rialto, Colton, Loma Linda, Redlands, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Bloomington, Muscoy, and surrounding Inland Empire communities. Students in these areas choose Heart CPR for BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification for work, school, renewal, and healthcare requirements.
